It involves applying a thin protective layer to the chewing surface of the tooth, which physically closes the fissures and makes it harder for deposits to collect in them.<\/p>\n

It is most often recommended soon after the permanent molars come through, at an age when the fissures are deep and the child is still learning to brush thoroughly.<\/p>\n

What the procedure involves<\/h2>\n

The procedure is quick and non-invasive \u2013 the tooth is cleaned and prepared, and a material is applied that then hardens. No drilling or anaesthetic is involved.<\/p>\n
