Is a dental bridge the right solution for you?

A dental bridge can be an option when one or more teeth are missing, and there are stable adjacent teeth or implants that can serve as support.

The choice depends on the condition of the abutment teeth, the health of the gums, the bite, and the number of teeth that need to be replaced.

A dental bridge may be considered if:
  • You are missing one tooth between two existing teeth
  • you are missing several adjacent teeth
  • adjacent teeth already require prosthetic restoration
  • the implant is not suitable or you do not want it
  • Do you want a fixed solution instead of a removable denture?
  • There are implants that can serve as a support for a bridge.

Fixed replacement for missing teeth

A dental bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth connected to abutments. The abutments can be natural teeth or implants, depending on the individual treatment plan.

With a traditional bridge, the adjacent teeth are prepared for crowns that support the replacement for the missing tooth. With an implant-supported bridge, the support is provided by implants placed in the jawbone.

The goal is to re-establish the continuity of the dental arch, a more stable bite, and a more comfortable chewing function, along with an appearance that blends harmoniously into the smile.

When is a dental bridge recommended?

A bridge is most commonly considered when one or more teeth are missing and the surrounding structures provide adequate support.

It can make sense when neighboring teeth already have large fillings or need a crown. In such a situation, a bridge can simultaneously restore the abutment teeth and replace the missing tooth.

If the adjacent teeth are healthy and intact, an implant can be an alternative because it does not require their preparation. The most suitable solution is determined after an examination.
DC360 PROCESS

What the creation of a dental bridge looks like

01

Review and diagnostics

We evaluate the condition of the teeth, roots, gums, and bite, and take additional X-rays as needed.
02

Treatment planning

We are determining which teeth or implants can serve as abutments and what scope of prosthetic work is needed.
03

Carrier preparation

Natural teeth are prepared for crowns or, in the case of implant therapy, implant stability is evaluated.
04

Temporary work

If necessary, a temporary bridge is placed to protect the prepared teeth during the fabrication of the final restoration.
05

Testing and adjustment

The shape, shade, contacts with adjacent teeth, and the bite relationship of the bridge are being checked.
06

Final setup

The bridge is installed permanently, and then controls and maintenance instructions are agreed upon.

A fixed dental bridge is a prosthetic restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. It relies on adjacent teeth or implants.

The number of teeth that a bridge can replace depends on the position of the gap, the quality of the abutments, and the bite forces. The scope is determined after an examination.

The preparation of natural teeth is most commonly performed under local anesthesia. After the procedure, temporary sensitivity or discomfort is possible.

In many cases, it is possible to create a temporary dental prosthesis. The possibility and form of the temporary solution depend on the type of therapy and the condition of the teeth.

Durability depends on the condition of the abutments, bite, oral hygiene, and regular check-ups. It cannot be predicted equally for every patient.

There is no universally better choice. An implant can preserve adjacent teeth, while a bridge may be more suitable when those teeth already need prosthetic restoration or an implant is not possible.

Yes, if there is a functional or aesthetic reason for it. Before replacement, it is necessary to assess the condition of the support and the surrounding tissue.
