Veneers

Thin ceramic veneers can harmonize the shape and color of front teeth and cover minor imperfections. The result is planned according to your face and smile.

Who are veneers intended for

Veneers are not a solution for every tooth, but in certain situations on front teeth, they can provide a calm, natural result.

Consider them if you recognize yourself in any of the following:
  • Your front teeth have changed color and whitening did not produce the desired result.
  • You are bothered by the small gap between your front teeth.
  • The teeth are uneven in shape or length
  • There are minor chips or wear on the edges of the teeth.
  • Older fillings on front teeth no longer match the tooth color
  • it is necessary to restore the shape, height, or function of an individual tooth
  • You want to harmonize the appearance of your smile, and your teeth are otherwise healthy.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin layers of ceramic that are placed on the front side of the tooth. They cover the visible part and thereby change the color, shape, or minor irregularities, while the tooth itself remains beneath them.

Unlike the dental crown, which encompasses the entire tooth, the veneer covers only the front surface. Because of this, generally less tooth tissue is filed down, and the result is adjusted to blend in with the rest of the teeth.

Ceramics transmit light similarly to natural enamel, so a well-placed veneer is difficult to distinguish from surrounding teeth.

Veneers or whitening - when does which make sense?

If you are bothered exclusively by the color of your teeth, and the shape and position are fine, bleaching is often a simpler and less invasive first step. It acts on the natural enamel and does not require grinding.

Veneers are an option when you want to change the shape, length, or cover minor imperfections in addition to the color, or when a tooth does not respond sufficiently to whitening. During the consultation, we jointly evaluate which approach suits your teeth and what you want to achieve.

It depends on how many teeth are visible when you smile and what you want to change. Sometimes two are enough, and sometimes the entire front row is done for a uniform appearance. We agree on the exact number during the examination.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia when necessary, so the intervention is generally without significant discomfort. We discuss post-procedure sensitivity in advance and provide instructions.

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, veneers can last for many years. Their durability depends on habits, the condition of the teeth, and maintenance.

As a rule, only a thin layer of the front surface is prepared, significantly less than for a crown. We assess the extent of preparation based on the condition of each tooth.

Ceramics do not change color with bleaching. That is why we choose the color carefully before fabrication, and if you plan on bleaching your other teeth, it is better to do so before placing veneers.

They are maintained just like natural teeth — with regular brushing, flossing, and check-ups. Avoiding chewing on hard objects and wearing a night guard for teeth grinding prolong their lifespan.
